About The Practice
Claudia Miles, LMFT, MFC#38418, is a licensed psychotherapist
in Los Angeles, California who has worked with clients who
suffer from trichotillomania (TTM), compulsive hair pulling and
skin picking, since 1996.
Trichotillomania (Compulsive Hair Pulling) and Skin Picking
Trichotillomania (TTM) is far more common than once believed: Studies suggest it affects up to 4 percent of the population. It is misunderstood by many, including professionals, inaccurately compared with self-mutilating behaviors such as cutting. Sufferers are frequently shamed, punished, bribed, and isolated. Claudia's interest in TTM is related to her own experience with the disorder, and after daily pulling for over 20 years, she has been pull-free since 1989. She treats teens and adults with the disorder individually, in short- and long-term groups and does phone sessions for those outside the area. She also works with parents of children and teens with trich, and her colleague Kristin Wyatt treats children under 12. Claudia has led workshops and given talks on trichotillomania at TLC conferences and retreats all over the country including Los Angeles, NYC, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Kansas City.
